Tatenda Creations Crocheting Hedgehogs for Supplywise

We are so grateful to Catherine Chomura of Tatenda Creations for lovingly crocheting our three hedgehogs—they’ve brought so much joy into our home and hearts.

Catherine’s story is one of resilience, creativity and kindness. In 2013, Catherine was diagnosed with eye cancer and, as a result, had to have her right eye removed and both eyelids removed. During the fight with illness and the tough times after, she found herself unemployed and struggling. A friend introduced her to the art of crocheting—and what began as a way to stay busy soon blossomed into something beautiful. With her new skill she started crocheting children’s toys to support herself and her extended family.

She works during the week making these little “furry friends” and sells them at Pineslopes in Fourways, Johannesburg over the weekends, she is also able to get them couriered nationwide.

So when we approached Catherine to make our hedgehogs, we knew we were in caring hands. The attention to detail, the texture, the personality she infused into each hedgehog—they’re more than toys. They’re one-of-a-kind creations that carry the spirit of someone whose craft comes from hope, perseverance, and heart. Thank you, Catherine, for giving our hedgehogs such life, for supporting your family through your talent, and for showing us what creativity born out of challenge can look like.
